Nina June is known as a stubborn girl. You can hardly overlook her, with her whiteblond hair, red lips and jazzy voice. She’s a bit obstinate, since nobody has to try to tell her what she should or shouldn’t do. She wraps her stories in popsongs full of jazz, blue eyed soul and country influences. Her performance, which can range from grand and playful, or small and sober, Nina never fails to disarm her audience. Strengthened by her excellent band (which consists of drums/percussion, bass, piano, guitar, violin and backing vocals), Nina June takes the audience on a musical journey every time. This year, Nina is working on her debut album. Inspired by singers such as Nina Simone, Eva Cassidy, Norah Jones, Lizz Wright and Tracy Chapman (and their male equivalents John Mayer and Amos Lee), she has created her own repertoire and arranged the songs together with her band. And this is all just the beginning… In May 2007 Nina and her band caught the attention of Jan Schuurman (from The Van- who produced many live DVD’s, like the one from Dayna Kurtz and also known as the technician for the Dutch 2Meter Sessions). This special meeting resulted in Nina and her band are going to record an acoustic album. The Session will take place at Oktober 5th, 2007. To be continued!! Read more on Last.fm.
