Romina Cohn started at a very early age, while she was just 11 years old, buying and involving herself in the vinyl's world, thank to her cousin, a DJ by that time. But according to her words, that was a time of learning and observation. "I couldn't say that i was already a DJ by that time, would be ridiculous, i was just learning by listening different kinds of music styles, playing with the turntables, and having fun". Romina's destiny as a DJ-producer was inevitable, because one year later, she moved to her actual Palermo's house (Buenos Aires) in which the security man (an ex disco-music DJ) gave her as a gift a hughe quantity of records by artists like Patrick Cowley, Sylvester, Giorgio Moroder, Gino Soccio, Cerrone and more artists who made an influence in her mixed sets, generly speaking, until these days. "Luckily, at that age i had access not just to acid house and dance music. Thank to my family and older friends than i, i could find also bands like The Ramones, The Damned, The Residents, Joy Division, Suicide, Dead Kennedys, David Bowie, and many other rock and different genre bands which made me not to have the tipicall latest 80's argentinian pre-judgment: "Techno versus Rock". Little by little, Romina Cohn started giving her first steps in the dance scene, and producing electronic music while she also was playing in a punk-rock band. Her style is not to be only well known by a specyfic genre, but just play the music she likes and enjoy, altough is not difficult to find a big influence, both in her estetic and in her music, from a big admiration and nostalgy for the 80's. "I don't like to be identified with something specific; promoters always want to put your name in the flyers and down of your name the genre you play; for me that's not worthy, cause i play everything i really like, doesn´t matter the genre. I like playing long sets for showing that there's a thin line between techno, electro, house, acid house and other genres like disco music, rock, punk , dub and even reggae or ska...why not?" It was inevitable Romina's destiny as a filmmaker also, because since she was a little child, she used to watch with her cinefill rumanian father lots and lots of movies (mostly terror ones), super-8 sessions and home made recordings that her father used to shoot with the last technology of the latest 80's. Romina studied filmmaking, speciallized in direction, in F.U.C (universidad del cine), and actually, at the age of 22, she's about to release her last short-movie , "Kill", and also to edit her first ep. She's resident of one of the most famous and well known clubs in Argentina, called Morocco, and she's about to start a tour that will take her to many different countries. "I'm gonna try the tours i'll make to have certain intervals for being in Buenos Aires from time to time... i don't like being away from my dog for that much time". Read more on Last.fm.
