SATTYANANDA a.k.a Nikhel Kumar Mahajan, born in 1979... was expressing his inner experiences through abstract art forms. At the age of 16 Nikhel was introduced to the world of computers where he found his thoughts and ideas coming to life. Nikhel is a student of graphic design and a qualified Sound Engineer. He was Creative Producer for Delhi’s 1st FM Station – RED FM. He has worked in different areas of the Industry ranging from movies, plays, TV Commercials and sound for events. In 2005 Nikhel conceptualized an album VANDE MATARAM – which showcased Indian Electronica at its best. The CD was launched by MUSIC TODAY. Following which he channelised his ideas and energies in forming India’s first Electronic Label, DadA Music. He went into the studio in the winter of 2005-06 and composed, produced and arranged INTERNAL ACTIVITIES, a seamless journey into the inner-self. In 2007, Nikhel performed at some of the biggest electronic festivals in Europe during the summer. SATTYANANDA is the first Indian to be performing LIVE at these Festivals – the first for an Indian Musician in the Ambient Electronic genre. INTERNAL ACTIVITIES Largely beatless, the emphasis is on a pensive relaxation of the sounds, then the mind. Organic, “real” instruments come into play – flute, sarangi, santoor, sitar and vocals – and add an extra dimension to the synths and sequencers. But the real draw here is that Sattyananda – is someone who genuinely believes in something. He is true to his music and audience. Through the whole album there is a sense of calmness. These are tracks that are perfect for rainy days and lonely evenings. Internal Activities isn’t a piece of music so much as a piece of art. The album’s a MUST BUY for all.
