A trio featuring Editions Mego boss Peter Rehberg, Christian Schachinger and Christina Nemec. It makes perfect sense that Blackest Ever Black should make a comfortable home for Rehberg and his two collaborators. With Rehberg as usual taking control of the electronic side of things, Schachinger and Nemec add guitar and bass respectively, and the three musicians emerge with a truly harrowing sound. It wouldn’t be improper to cite KTL as a reference point as the two bands share more than merely a member, but Shampoo Boy’s crushing, eardrum-baiting feedback and noise might be even more extreme, and even more symphonic. Perfectly in keeping with Blackest Ever Black’s focus on the grimmer side of contemporary music, Shampoo Boy look set to join Raime and Prurient as low-light listening for those moments when the hum of your broken radiator simply won’t do.
