Sophie Nash is a singer-songwriter from South-East England. Born into a musical family, she has played guitar since her early teens, and was taught classical piano from the age of 7. More of a continuous 'work-in-progress' than anything else, her music is typically gentle acoustic guitar fingerpicking, played by herself and often accompanied by friend Sean McGrath, overlayed by subtle harmonised vocals. Much of her work is influenced by other acoustic singer-songwriters such as José González, James Taylor, Elliott Smith, Bright Eyes and Nick Drake. The song 'Aileen' is a response to the famous American legal case of Florida prostitute and serial killer Aileen Wuornos, popularised by the 2003 film 'Monster' and Nick Broomfield's documentary 'Life And Death Of A Serial Killer'.
