Synthetik FM is the brainchild of Bobby Clark, an electronic musician from Knoxville, Tennessee, who is mainly influenced by the electronic stylings of 1980's new wave and synthpop bands. The project is a series of collaborations between Bobby and various vocalists from around the world, done entirely through the internet. Synthetik FM influences include (but are not limited to) the following musicians: Erasure, Depeche Mode, New Order, Human League, Jean Michel Jarre, Giorgio Moroder, Vangelis ... and a number of bands in the current genre most commonly called Modern Synthpop. Bobby's musical passion began in the 1980's, with the advent of new wave, video games, and of course the 1982 World's Fair in Knoxville, Tennessee. His music progressed through many stages, from basement recordings, to eventually being active in the Atari and Amiga computer demo scenes. In 2001, Bobby became active on the old mp3.com music portal, and discovered a burgeoning underground synthpop scene, producing a type of music he had long thought dead. Inspired by this discovery, Bobby began an internet radio station called Synthpopalooza Radio, and became active in promoting the underground synthpop and electronic music scene, including helping finance the release of "United Synthpop Artists: A Tribute to America", a charity tribute jointly released with A Different Drum, Ninthwave, and Cohaagen music, and produced in the wake of the September 11th terrorist attacks. All this promotional activity re-awakened Bobby's musical inspiration, and he began to produce music and remix work under the name of Synthetik FM, as a further means of promoting the underground synthpop scene to the outside world. A result of 5 years of collaboration over the internet with musicians around the world has resulted in "e=mc²", the debut Synthetik FM album. Synthetik FM has also been active as a remixer, reinterpreting many other artists music in his own unique electronic style. Bands that feature on the Synthetik FM remix resume include acts from the underground synthpop scene such as Wave in Head, Empire State Human, Spray, Venus Hum, Seven Words, and even the legendary synthpop band Red Flag.
