Ted Ekman

Singer-songwriter, Ted Ekman, was born in Rockford, Illinois. He drifted around the U.S., before settling in the San Francisco Bay Area, where he currently resides. His music roots were formed in various obscure indie bands before going solo. These included Peter Luxury, Pharmicon, & Blue Pear. His music is mostly acoustic anti-folk with some tracks bending more toward unplugged rock/pop, or alt country. His soulful songs often seem very personal in nature, and are typically delivered with a wide dynamic, fluctuating between soft crooning and intense wailing. Most of Ekman's recordings are simply voice and guitar and can be described as skeletal or naked. Lush instrumentation and polished production are usually avoided, leaving little distraction from his piercingly idiosyncratic style. Read more on Last.fm.
