Terra Ambient is the music project of Jeff Kowal (originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania). As the principal composer and musician, Jeff incorporates a unique balance of technology and primal and acoustic sound into his musical palette. He has played guitar, bass, bansuri, keyboards, drums and other instruments over the years, and he is known for his thick textural soundscapes and overdubbing techniques. Jeff began recording under the moniker Terra Ambient in 2001 with his first release, "The Darker Space." Since then, he has made music for broadcast commercials, independent film, gallery installations, as well as collaborating with other musicians. His sophomore release, "The Gate", broke the top 100 of 2004 on the New Age Reporter's playlist. Terra Ambient's latest release, "Wanderlust" (lotuspike 2009), is already garnishing attention and airplay across the globe and on syndicated programming such as John Diliberto's "ECHOES" and Stephen Hill's "Hearts of Space". A trained visual artist and graphic designer, Kowal's musical approach has a visceral, painterly quality to it. Using a hybrid of electronic and ethno-acoustic instrumentation, Kowal builds deep, ethereal sound worlds reminiscent of ancient civilizations and sacred places yet discovered. Read more on Last.fm.
