The Tarantula Waltz is based around the song-writing of Markus Svensson. In September of 2007 his critically acclaimed debut album, The Tarantula Waltz was released through Swedish label National. The album was listed as the 9th best album of 2007 by Patrik Forshage at Nöjesguiden. Since, he's been touring in Sweden, Italy, England and Scotland. His second album, Did Not Leave To Find But To Forget, To Leave Behind, was released February 17th 2010. In October 2013 The Tarantula Waltz released a stand-alone single titled Full Moon Twenty-Four-Seven as a tribute to the late Jason Molina together with Idiot Wind. His third album, Tinder Stick Neck was released on April 23 to critical praise in Sweden. Now Svensson has signed to the newly started Swedish indie label Woah Dad! who will release his new EP Lynx on May 20. Lynx was recorded with Kristian Matsson (The Tallest Man on Earth) in Matsson’s home studio in Gagnef in the woods in the Swedish region of Dalarna, where Matsson acted as both producer and musician during the recordings. Since launching the project in the mid-‘00s The Tarantula Waltz have toured extensively and shared the stage with acts like First Aid Kit, Damien Jurado, Kathleen Edwards, Mark Lanegan and Iron & Wine, as well as toured as the opening act on The War on Drugs’ European tour last year. The Tarantula Waltz have become one of the most acclaimed acts in Sweden, as well as being named “Best of What’s Next” by Paste Magazine and having won praise from the likes of BrooklynVegan, Uncut, The Line of Best Fit and Clash Magazine internationally.
