USM started at the end of the ‘90s, as a collaboration between AxeS and FaiboX, two MC’s who shared the same musical tastes. In 2001, USM independently released their first effort, “Cuvant Inainte” with AxeS sharing the “spotlight” with FaiboX and Vick da Sick, Faibo’s brother and the crew’s main affiliate. One year later, they hit back with “USM - Vol. I” LP , which spun off their first underground hit, “Falsificam MC”. At the beginning of 2004, FaiboX takes the DJing for the group more seriously, leaving the mic to his brother, Vick Da Sick , who becomes USM’s third member. The same year, after releasing “Kuts From Underground” , a self-produced and distributed mixtape, USM becomes one of the groups affiliated with the independent label Hades Records. The single “3 deja multi” becomes an instant hit in the Hip-hop community, and one year later USM consolidate their position with “Pustanii”, a track from the “Hades Records preia controlul” compilation. May 2006 brings USM’s first official release under the Hades Records imprint, the “Back in the bizz” EP, containing ten tracks recorded by the group between 2004-2006. Caracterised by a heavy sound, crafted by some of Romania’s finest producers (Sexy Loops, Ortega and DJ FaiboX), gangsta rap infused lyrics mixed with cutting-sharp battle punchlines, the EP spuns off a brand new underground-favourite single: “Keylace”. The group also started building a reputation through live shows, concerting all over Romania’s main cities, rocking the stage together with the Wu Tang Killa Beez and opening for Afu-Ra at the end of 2006. Early 2007, the Underground Sound Mastaz pull another ace from their sleeve: “Ciordeli”, a bilingual promo-material, featuring three guests straight from the U.S. underground circuit: MOA, Da Tryfe MC and Dos Noun. The “Ciordeli” EP was supposed to be a teaser of what USM was preparing: their full length official debut album, “Gangsta Rap”, but unfortunately, at the end of 2007, before the album was finished, the memebers of the group announced that USM would stop their activity for an undetermined period of time. In the meantime, Dj Faibox, active member in KST (along with Kombat & Maerry), Turntable Science (toghether with Dj Undoo, Dj Dox & Dj Paul) & Zeppelin (with Serafim & Ortega) released 2 highly appreciated mixtapes, Fonoteca de Aur vol.1 & 2. In early 2009, Axes returned to the game as a solo artist, announcing that there will be more tracks in the future with his former group colleagues. He soon decided to release a couple of songs from the album "Gangsta Rap" on his official myspace page www.myspace.com/axessl Read more on Last.fm.
