Voigt Kampff are an Electronic Music Outfit formed in the late 80's in Dundee. Taking their Influences from Streetsounds Electro Compilations, Kraftwerk, the soundtracks of John Carpenter, and early Hip Hop, VK released the "Real Men Use Carplan EP" on Panic Trax in 1997 (subsequently re-released as "Skinnycap" by Mighty Robot Recordings in 2006. By the late 90's, Voigt Kampff had become a larger collective after adding a string section to the line up.. The band line up was now Zoe Carter, Hannah Rougvie, Catriona Skinner, Andrew Balneaves, Stuart Ney and Daniel Kelly. They released an album of instrumental tracks entitled "Used" on Kingsize Records in 1998. This period was the most creative and successful for the band with gigs throughout the UK, including support slots with Spiritualized, James Lavelle (UNKLE), and an appearance at the In The City music festival in Manchester. During this time, Voigt Kampff also recorded two Evening Sessions for Radio Scotland. Voigt Kampff followed this up with 3 self funded and highly sought after EP releases. ;) Read more on Last.fm.
