There are at least two artists with the name [The] Web. 1. [The] Web is a Jazzrock / Fusion band from the UK. 2. Web is a Portugese thrash metal act. 1. The Web's first album "Fully Interlocking" was released in 1968, with John L. Watson as vocalist. Watson was also present on the second album "Theraphosi Blondi" (1970), but left before their third and last work "I Spider" (1970). This time, the new band member Dave Lawson, who brought also some musical changes (keyboards, more progressive elements), did the vocals. After "I Spider", the band changed their name to "Samurai". 2. Web formed in 1986. At that time, a pair of roadies of the most known Portuguese metal band Tarantula, felt the need to create something where they could invest their passion. So, David Duarte and Victor Matos began gathering the right people to ease the search for a unique sound. However, the lack of people interested in taking part in an heavy metal project made the process harder than expected and the line-ups were constantly changing. This scenario continued to inflate by several drawbacks like compulsory military service and the severe illness of singer David Duarte which made him leave the band, the music and later our presence. The remaining man Victor Matos, united with Fernando Martins since 1994, continued to input new ideas to fulfill their goals. Since October 1997, with Pedro Soares joining the band on drums and the entry of guitarist Filipe Ferreira later in 2005, made this the longer line up since many years.
