Cloaks is the name of both a dubstep/noise band and an ambient drone band. 1) Cloaks are considered to be one of the more abstract and uncompromising production teams to have emerged from the spannered and industrial-edged UK dubstep scene. Their distorted and often claustrophobic sound, created using found sound and circuit bent instruments was first debuted on the London based Werk Discs, with their output drawing comparison to not only modern bass music but to the darker sounds of noise and industrial. 2) Cloaks is also the nom-de-plume of Spencer Doran, a Portland based musician who also moonlights as a member of RV Paintings. Doran employs acoustic piano, guitars and various electronics to sublime effect. Experimental musician and member of Eternal Tapestry (sax & synth), Ryan Carlisle, often performs and plays with Cloaks. Read more on Last.fm.
