Fast Planet are an electronic band from Memphis, TN who formed in 2011 comprised of Wil Deshazo, Brandon Herrington, Landon Moore and Jared Rawlinson. Fast Planet's approach to electronic music demonstrates a keen ear for ambient soundscapes and atmospheric pop that you might not expect from a Memphis-based band. Drawing influence from (and frequent comparisons to) diverse iconic electronic pop artisans like Telefon Tel Aviv, James Blake, The Postal Service, Thom Yorke, Peter Gabriel and Massive Attack, Fast Planet's story represents a unique departure from their roots. The band's 2012 debut album 'Jes' (released 31 July 2012) is the result of a re-education by each member of Fast Planet, all of whom had played together & individually in rock bands for many years before abandoning their rock roots for MIDIs, Moogs and synths. What they went searching for is delivered in subtlety and nuance, at times capturing the space between the notes and, others, delivering transformative melodies and rhythms meant to take listeners along on their journey into new & unknown experimental territories. "Though a first outing, mellow and subtle,[Jes] feels closer to a masterwork– and as far as possible from any sort of dormitory." -- Consequence of Sound (4/5 stars) "'Jes' is a record permissible of an emotional healing." -- Earmilk "Their seductive rhythms mixed with themes of love and loss surprisingly creates a result that doesn’t come off inauthentic or contrived like many others before them." -- My Old Kentucky Blog "With its woozy samples, razor-sharp 808 beats, and low-key vocals swelling with sensual energy, it’s the perfect blend of pop escapism and R&B groove." -- Consequence of Sound Official Website: http://fast-planet.com Read more on Last.fm.
