Ohio natives Outrun The Gun have been writing and touring feverishly since their conception in late 2006, as a result they continuously have an ever-expanding fan-base. The band was started on a foundation of two simple ideas: honesty and hard work. Honesty in lyrical and musical content, actions, relationships, and working as hard as possible to bring this refreshing lack of falsehood to fans far and wide. This dictum has been well rewarded as many are becoming tired of the same stale presets that have become the signature sound of the current metal scene. Outrun The Gun has been pushing the envelope since their April, 2008 signing to Torque Records. Although they are no strangers to adversity, they have come out on top time and time again with a sound that is both unique, yet vaguely familiar for a newly blossoming metal band from the Midwest. This sound tells of a past that is haunting and at times painful, but an undeniable strength and hope that is found in their beliefs. Their new record entitled "ROOMS" was released to the public on 9/30/08. The album itself delves deep into the personal side of each individual in the band. While "ROOMS" brings honest and heartfelt lyrics to the table, there is no doubt that it is a perpetual onslaught of metal driven hardcore. With scream till you pass out vocals, melodic and intricate guitar work and devastating drum tracks Outrun The Gun hopes to work their way to the top one performance at a time! "The men of Outrun The Gun are on a mission to bring their technical brand of hardcore to the world. With an intense focus of musical chops and zealous, passionate songwriting, OTG has developed a reputation for caring about their music and loving what they do. Precision riffing, howling screaming, and soaring vocals are all trademarks of a sound that is finding a national audience for the first time." - SmartPunk "Stoked to welcome OTG to the fold. From Canton, OH, they become the second US signing under our current distro deal with Victory Records. The things that caught my attention right away were the spot on vocals, and the incredible musical chops. As I got to know the guys better, I was inspired by their passion and vision for their band. I’m excited to be able to resource them, and help them do what they feel led to do. Not every band and every project needs to be this way. This one is though, and the future looks great. Look for a crazy new record before the end of September." - Torque Records Even though Outrun The Gun has an obvious message behind their music, at no point do they push their beliefs on others and are almost always greeted with open arms and embraced by audiences nationwide for their transparency. This is a tell tale sign that Outrun The Gun is a band endeavoring to look at music as a whole from a different perspective. As long as the world around Outrun The Gun is changing, so will they be striving to adapt and become better and more effective musicians, storytellers and friends. Be on the lookout for these guys, they are surely not a band you will want to miss! Read more on Last.fm.
