Whether you’re listening to, watching or hanging out with Stealing O’Neal leave your inhibitions at home. This five piece hail from the sunny streets of Melbourne and are the type who act on an urge & wear their hearts on their sleeves. They write beautifully crafted rock music that takes you on a rollercoaster ride of emotions, but always leave you with a smile on your face. But don’t be fooled by this intro, Stealing O’Neal are a rock band and wail as good as anyone. They have been turning heads across Australia from their music, live shows & eccentric behaviour. Each member of the band is a unique individual, they are very different from one another but with their instruments in hand they come together like Voltron to form a mighty force musically. It’s hard to find yourself standing still when listening to S.ON. Like many of their time they draw their early influences from pop punk in bands such as Blink 182 & Green Day but as they grow their musical taste buds crave a more complex diet with influences stemming from such bands as Death Cab, Copeland, American Football, New Order and Bloc Party. With the crave for musical knowledge mixed with their natural creative ability S.ON produce a progressive brand of punk/rock/emo. S.ON possesses a very unique, distinct sound embedded with beautifully written, complex songs with many layers that connect with the youth culture. Sonically they sound like Placebo in happy place. Chris’ vocals bear a similarity to that of Brian Molko with Jack & Tim creating a very textured & dynamic guitar experience. Tim along with Tom on bass & Ryan on drums deliver a tight rhythm section. Still experimenting with different sounds, styles & techniques, the band is not the complacent type to settle with what they have, instead pushing the boundaries of their musicianship to create the future. Already Stealing O’Neal have shared the stage with some of Australia’s biggest names in Evermore, The Veronicas, Kisschasy, End Of Fashion, After The Fall, Angelas Dish, The Hot Lies, Screemfeeder & Limbeck from the US. They have completed a number of East Coast tours gigging around QLD, NSW, SA as well playing across some of Melbourne’s premier stages. The climax of S.ON’s live performance was performing on Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena in front of 8,000+ screaming fans. S.ON’s intensive touring has seen them gain a large and loyal fan base which they cherish very much. After performing over 150 shows together they have a tight engaging live show. The band is full of energy on stage interacting with their crowd, giving them their money’s worth. S.ON has a versatile live show and regularly performs acoustic shows. They have t he ability and flair to see their dreams become reality in this industry. Even at this early stage of their careers Stealing O’Neal have been setting the benchmark in their local scene which has seen other young bands follow suit with their songwriting, promotions & even lifestyles. Stealing O’Neal are unpredictable out of the studio as well and don’t conform to any mould with their spontaneous behavior & unconventional methods of promotion seeing fans across Australia stand up and take notice. It is not unheard of for Stealing O’Neal to waltz into a strict private catholic girls college during lunchtime and give the unsuspecting girls an impromptu acoustic performance like only they know how. These performances only last 1 or 2 songs with the authorities at hand expelling the band from the premises and being left to bring order to a school of excited girls. When the boys don’t have their own gig to play they often venture to sold gigs of other bands around town and perform acoustically to the people waiting in line. Their enthusiasm and mischievous, carefree behavior coupled with their amazing ability to write creative fresh pop songs will see Stealing O’Neal succeed in the entertainment industry. The years of blood sweat and tears these five boys have put into their dream is about to pay off. Signing with Melodic Music Management, 2007 will see the launch of Stealing O’Neal with their debut EP, Spin For Me, being released in summer. Spin For Me features five new tracks, each one different from the last, which will surprise even their fans who have been there since day one. Stealing O’Neal are a group of boys without any inhibitions, whose ambition is to be pioneers to generations to come. They make music purely because they love the art form. Read more on Last.fm.
