In the beginning there were two bands, well as far as we are concerned! There was Spooky Tuesday and Tinsel Time. J.J. and Paul came from Tinsel Time which had broken up at some point while Ashley and Go-Go were still in Spooky Tuesday. They (J.J. and Paul) were hanging around like vultures waiting for death to finally set in so they could pick what meat they wanted. Literally J.J. and Paul would hang around the rehearsal room several nights a week until Spooky finally broke-up. A couple of weeks pass before the four of us got together for the first time to even discuss what we wanted to do, band wise. J.J. shows up for this meeting with half green and half yellow hair, this obviously set the tone for what the band was going to look like! As we sat around that evening discussing what the image would be and the sound, we all started spouting names for this project. After a lot of smoking and some drinking the best we could do was Bimbo Slurpeez. This was the official name in the beginning! After the initial meeting Ashley suddenly disappears from the face of the planet! Leaving for a month, nobody knows where he finally wound up or what he did. A lot of speculation has been made but that's another story. After resurfacing the band immediately got to work on writing material. The first three songs to come about were Froot Strypes, Political Lies and We're so Glamourous. So now the songs were coming and we needed to start working on image. So after raiding our girlfriends closets and numerous thrift stores an image was starting to come about. Then about six months in to the band Go-Go had problems that needed attention and could no longer continue this journey with us but remained close friends with everyone until his passing in 1999. So after a few auditions that didn't pan out, Ashley contacted Stevie who he had played with in a band before Spooky Tuesday. Steve came out and he was able to pick where Go-Go left off! So welcome Stevie Stoner and the line up that would be intact for four plus years. Nobody was ever really happy with the name that was being used so work began on finding the right name! We tried a combination of all sorts of ideas but nothing really worked, but we got close thanks to a Trash Brats song. Raspberry Creme from "Someday's Too Late", but that still didn't click. Then one day coming home from work J.J. stopped at an old convenient store and found a piece of candy called Tazberry. It was a blow pop with out the stick! So J.J. calls all excited and asks Paul and Ashley how they felt about Tazberry Creme but something just didn't sit with creme so Paul asks J.J. what the color of it was and as you can guess, it was blue. So TazzBerry Blue was born. Two months latter we were in the studio recording "My very first coloring book" and we played our first show two months after that on Friday, October 1st, 1993 at The International Ballroom with Shok L'Amour, Smartass, and Sex Cab! The Neo-Psychodelic Rainbow Flavored Bubble-Gum Transvestite Punks From Outer Space! (This is a self description given by the band.) Tazzberry Blue hailed from Atlanta, Georgia and was around from 1990 - 1997. The guys disbanded in early 97. A full length album of all 21 studio recorded songs and 1 live song entitled "The Whole Shebang" was released in 2002. Read more on Last.fm.
